Welcome to the village...
This is the website for Belthorn village in Lancashire. It is a space for villagers past and present to share information about the latest news and what's happening in our community.
Very heavy traffic is coming through Belthorn in the morning which is caused by drivers trying to avoid the excessive tailbacks on the Grane Road due to the introduction of traffic lights on the M65 roundabout. Belthorn Road is clearly not designed for this volume of traffic, and drivers are driving on pavements with little concern for pedestrians. The situation is exacerbated further by the routine school traffic which comes to a head at about the sametime in the morning. This has become very dangerous and it is urgent that something is done in order to protect the safety of villagers and schoolchildren.
I have set up a special page on the website where you can follow the correspondence which is going backwards and forwards on this issue. If you have a contribution you would like to make, please let me have your views by using the contact form on this website. You can also email me at gwen@belthornvillage.co.uk and I will publish your comments. In particular, if you have any photographs of the tailbacks and use of pavements by motorists, please let me have them.
For those who may be concerned that I have taken the wind farm page down from the site, please be assured that I have archived its content so that if it is ever needed, it is available from me.
Belthorn now has a facebook page so please search for Belthorn Village from your own facebook page and click 'like' and add your news, views and opinions to the page - the more you use it the better it will be!
As usual, please let me have any news or details of any upcoming events so that I can include them on the website.
You can contact me using the Contact Us form by clicking on the link to the left hand side of this page.
Best wishes,
Gwen
